Terms of Service

1. Objectives

Kasetsart University Knowledge Repository created this website to provide an access to the works of the university thus promoting their visibility, national and international citations, and disseminating knowledge to society.

Your use of the website in under the following terms of service. Prior to use, you are recommended to read the terms and conditions and/or terms and other agreements specified on the website prior to your use of the website.

Your access to and use of this site means that you accept these terms and conditions of service. If you do not accept the terms and conditions, please note that you are not allowed to access or use this site.

2. Terms and conditions

As part of our service or via the service, you may receive, access, create, send, or show data such as files, written texts, computer software, audio files or sounds, photographs, videos, and other pictures – henceforth “content”. The content may be protected by intellectual property of the content owner. You do not own the copyright to modify, sell, transfer, distribute, reuse, or reproduce the content or parts thereof without prior written permission from the content owner.

You may find inappropriate contents under your own risk or plagiarism. We reserve the rights to monitor, proofread, mark, change, modify, and reject any inappropriate contents from our services. We may monitor content by using tools that are not against laws and regulations of relevant government authorities.

Without prior notification, we may suspend our service temporarily or terminate the service to a particular user if such service affects other users or is against the law.

Service suspension or termination

You will not be able to access your account, files, or contents in your account when the service is withheld or terminated. We retain the rights to delete all the files in our account without prior notification.

In the case of breach of provisions, we retain the rights to inactivate your password, including your own password and the password we issued to you.

We reserve the rights to modify these provisions on this page at any time. You shall occasionally check this page to be informed of the modifications we may have because such modifications are legally binding. Your use of the website that has undergone such modifications are considered as your agreement which is legally binding. The most recent date of amendment is on the bottom on this page.

File management

Type of file File management
1. File .doc - Before publishing, save the file as a PDF/a to prevent errors on display because of the unmatched version or font of the program.
2. File PDF - Save the file as a PDF/a, and can be read even if the program has a changing of version.
3. File in CD-ROM (CD/VCD/DVD) - Convert file into .flac, .mp3, .wav, and mp4 file to decrease file size and can service in system.
4. Full text of book or journal without bookmark or not display in fit page format. - Add a bookmark following a table of contents and edit the file to display in fit page format, for use to create an eBook.
5. Paper sizes are not the same. - Adjust or modify files to have the same page size by photoshop programs or image editing programs.
6. Files with a size bigger than 50 MB. - Decrease file size by decreasing image resolution or split file or convert file into small file type, such as convert png to jpeg.
7. File has black spots, black edges, prominent writing lines, or blurry files. - File clean by modifying or editing the file with photoshop programs or image editing programs.
8. Page are not in the correct order. - Rearrange the page correctly.
9. Book file, the original file does not have a full text file. Files divide into sections or chapters. - Merge file into full text file, rearrange page to correctly, and add bookmark.
10. Article file, the original file is a combined file. File does not divide into each article. - Split a file into a cover file, table of contents file, and each article file.
11. Book or journal must be created as an ebook/ eJournal. - Add watermark, bookmark, and metadata.
12. File name is Thai or has other special symbols. - Rename the file to English and remove a special symbol out of the name.
13. File has vulnerable or sensitive data to violate copyrights, such as financial data to support research or budget received or detail about cost, and researcher history or personal data.

- Check and coordinate with the work owner to confirm.

- Remove any vulnerable or sensitive data.

- Do not upload or publish files on the service system.

File Format Migration Plan

In addition to managing files into a defined format and verifying files before upload into the service system, the Kasetsart University Knowledge Repository has plans to migrate or improve digital file standards for review file standards, to ensure the files can be preserved and usable in the longterm and able to provide continuous service. Even if technology has changed, there will be regular monitoring for change. When a technology changes and affects the efficiency of the Kasetsart University Knowledge Repository services, it will analyze and review all available file formats to verify that can support the changing technology. If the file format is out of date and no longer works, it must be modified or migrated to the new file format standard so it can be accessed and displayed without changing any data, such as pdf files, which must be migrated or converted to pdf/a.

4. Rights, duty, and responsibilities of users

You will provide information about yourself such as personally identifiable information and accurate and updated contact information to use. This is part of registration or continuous use.

You will use this website for the purposes that comply with our terms, laws, regulations, and generally accepted principles. You will not enter the website using other accesses than the one provided by us, including the automatic log-in (using a script), without permission from KUKR.

You will not directly or indirectly obstruct or interfere our services, server, and network.

You will not copy, reproduce, sell, exchange, or resell our contents for any purposes prior unless obtained our written consent. You have a duty to keep your passwords linking to all accounts used to access our service confidential. You shall be solely responsible for a third party including us for damage due to breach of these provisions.

You will not import any data containing personal data or sensitive data of yours or of others into the system. If your documents contain personal data or sensitive data, you shall delete, cover, or modify them in such a way that they will be not identifiable before being imported.

5. Linking to other websites

Linking to other websites provides convenience to you. We do not have control over the accuracy, credibility, trustworthiness of the contents on the sites to which our website is linked. We cannot assume any responsibility for the content displayed on other sites to which our website is linked. We shall not be liable for any damage due to visiting the sites.

Links to our homepage are permitted on the condition that a written request is sent to us. Deep linking is not permitted without the prior written consent of KUKR. We reserve the rights to set any conditions for such linking. We cannot assume any responsibility or shall be liable for damage due to the use of those sites.

6. Disclaimer

We shall not be liable to any damage including damage, loss, and expenses directly or indirectly incurred by your use of the website or the sites linked to our website. We shall not be liable for any damage, loss, or expenditures due to failures, flaws, suspension, omissions, viruses or worms that may infect your computer equipment although we may be informed of the damage, loss, or expenditure.

Moreover, we shall not be liable for any claims made website users or individuals, or for any decisions or actions made by credibility of content. We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or potential damage.

You accept and realize that we shall not be liable for any actions of users.

7. Title and rights of intellectual property

We and our grantors are the sole owners of the title including the rights of any intellectual property listed in our service regardless of whether such rights have been registered.

You shall not disclose our confidential information without our written consent. You shall not use our trade name, trade mark, service mark, or logo of our domain name without our written consent.

8. Licensing

We may change, modify, and revise the Data and data files you deposit to the system as part of our standards and operating procedures. The integrity of meaning and content shall remain; we will not change, modify or revise if not necessary. For example, those who upload MS Word or MS Excel documents into the system through the staff of the Kasetsart University Knowledge Repository will convert to PDF for service on the website.

9. Creative Commons

The works stored in the system are licensed according to Creative Commons. The owners are entitled to do Creative Commons license settings.

10. Governing Laws

Interpretation and enforcement of terms of service shall be in accordance with the Thai laws.
